Apple Pie
A warm, fragrant apple pie with cinnamon and vanilla on a crisp shortcrust base, best served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A classic dessert made easy.

Ingredients
- 7 large green apples
- 50 g butter
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- Ready-made sweet shortcrust pastry

Peel and core the apples, halve them and cut each half into thin slices.

Melt the butter in a small pot, add the apples, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon and cook until the apples turn golden.

Line a round pan with the pastry and blind bake it (cover the dough with baking paper topped with dried beans or chickpeas) at 180C for about 20 minutes.

Remove the pan from the oven, arrange the apple slices in a flower pattern over the crust and bake for another 20 minutes at 180C. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Noga's tip
For a quicker version, dice the apples into cubes and top the pie with another layer of shortcrust pastry.
